Gentle Dental was founded in 2014, by Dr Phil Boulton and his partner Joanne. Since then, Gentle Dental has evolved into a successful group of family focused practices, who strive to exceed the expectations of each and every patient. Our primary focus is family dentistry and preventative dentistry.

Gentle Dental now has 3 convenient locations at Nambour, Noosa Civic and Cotton Tree, with a brand new location at Forest Glen coming soon. Dr Phil Boulton

Principal Dentist

Dr Phil Boulton is our principal dentist. Phil was born in Sydney. He grew up in Christchurch, NZ and spent five years studying at Otago University before moving back to Australia. Phil graduated from the new dental program at Griffith University QLD in 2008. Phil has continued to broaden his extensive skills whilst working hands on for QLD health, and then moving into a private practice on the Gold Coast.

Phil's genuine passion for dentistry has been the driving force behind his furthered education. His love of dentistry includes educating others, as well as himself with the most modern techniques available. Phil has travelled extensively to the US and North America, to fulfil his passion in implantology and more recently - orthodontics.

On a personal note, Phil and Jo relocated to Nambour four years ago to raise their family. They have two sons, William - 4yrs and Henry 2 yrs old and they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their third little baby. Phil and Jo both enjoy being involved themselves within the Sunshine Coast community.

Dr Cassidy Redden

Associate Dentist

Dr. Cassidy Redden graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He has been fortunate to gain many experiences allowing him to see patients from Hobart, Townsville, Cairns and internationally in Vancouver. Dr Redden also previously worked as a biomedical scientist in genetics, regenerating teeth using stem cell technology, hoping to one day replace the standard implants.

Dr. Redden provides a comforting, relaxed atmosphere to his clinical approach with the belief that providing an atmosphere where his patients feel calm best allows his tips on oral hygiene to be processed by his patients. While he is still fresh on the scene, he has already expressed a keen interest in many fields and has a dream to start a non-for-profit van providing free dental care for the homeless.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Redden enjoys keeping himself fit with Ironman 70.3 triathlons, and surf lifesaving. He also has the ability to talk underwater about real football (AFL) and his beloved Geelong Cats. He also enjoys music and playing Piano in his spare time.

Dr Nicholas Chung

Associate Dentist

Dr Nicholas Chung comes from Hobart where he completed a degree in Pharmacy before looking for a new challenge. This came in the form of moving to Queensland and undertaking a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at James Cook University.

Nick likes to take an open and caring approach to patients’ oral health care and hopes to empower patients in making their decisions. He recognises that every patient is unique and tries to tailor his approach accordingly.

Nick likes to fill his time by keeping fit. He grew up swimming and subsequently got hooked in to the world of Triathlon. He enjoys his downtime by experiencing new foods, baking, and looking for new interests. Dr Nick is welcoming new patients and cannot wait to meet you!

Dr Liam Maundrell

Associate Dentist

Dr Liam Maundrell graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from James Cook University in
Cairns. During his studies he was privileged to gain dental experience in the public sector in both
Hobart and Mackay. Dr Maundrell has conducted research on environmental sustainability in
Dentistry with the aim to assist with waste reduction at dental university clinics and encourage
future research into more environmentally friendly alternatives.
Liam enjoys all aspects of dentistry and wishes to pursue further training in root canal therapy, oral
surgery, and aesthetic dentistry. He is passionate about building a relationship with all his patients
and aims to provide his dental care in a calm relaxed manner to help nervous patients feel in control
and at ease. Liam hopes by providing patients with positive experiences he can change their
perceptions of visiting the Dentist.
Liam grew up in Emerald, Central Queensland and loves returning to visit his grandparents and work
on the family cattle property. Outside of dentistry Liam enjoys keeping active by playing touch and
rugby. Whenever he can, Liam enjoys getting out into nature either by camping or surfing. An avid coffee enthusiast, you’ll find him hunting down the best local coffee spots.

Karli Grace

Oral health Therapist

Karli Grace is our caring and friendly Oral Health Therapist who is excited to be able to provide high quality oral health care to families on the Sunshine Coast. Her kind, friendly and understanding nature allows her patients to feel relaxed and safe while undergoing dental treatment. Karli also encourages questions and open discussions about your oral health concerns and any treatment that is recommended as she believes oral health education is critical to achieving good oral health outcomes.

Karli is very dedicated to her role within the Gentle Dental team. She treats patients of all ages, with a strong focus on paediatric dentistry and periodontal disease (gum disease). She provides the skills necessary to improve oral health, by tailoring individual oral hygiene instructions and education to all patients. Karli is passionate about preventative and minimal intervention dentistry and has a special interest investigating the individual risk factors causing dental disease.

Karli is a published writer for the Dental Hygienist Association of Australia Ltd. (DHAA Ltd.) and has an interest in furthering her experience by publishing research in the future through the Master of Public Health.

When Karli isn’t busy in the dental surgery, she enjoys surfing, cooking, being with friends and family, but mostly spending time in the garden or at the beach with her partner Marty and their beautiful 4 year old rescue dog, Sailor.

Dr Arvi Singh

Associate Dentist

Dr Arvi earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from King’s College London in 2010. He then obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry from Eastman Dental Institute at University College London. He’s also a Certified Six Month Smiles provider.

Dr Arvi is passionate about providing unique and customised service for each patient. “I enjoy making the dental experience for every patient like no other they have had before”. Dr Arvi is a senior member of our team and he has an exceptional skillset featuring his passion, advanced aesthetics.

When Dr Arvi is not caring for patients, he enjoys photography, cooking and experimenting with new recipes. He also likes to explore the stunning nature walks around the Sunshine Coast and Noosa.

Dr Jason Kim

Senior Associate Dentist

Dr Jason Kim graduated from the University of Sydney in 1986. After more than 30 years running a successful practices in Sydney/Canberra, he is excited to settle into life in Sunny Coast to enjoy the warmer weather and continue his professional life.

Dr Kim has a gentle and caring chair‐side manner and an extraordinary eye for aesthetic dentistry. He is committed to providing his patients with high quality preventative treatment whilst offering long‐term successful treatment options. Dr Kim enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and always keeps up to date with the most current philosophies and technologies.

Over the years, Dr Kim has gained wealth of extensive knowledge and experience in general dentistry and has gone on to develop special interest in the areas of Cerec restorations and Implant restorations.

He has a wealth of experience in restorative and preventative dentistry including Root Canal Therapy, TMJ disorders, Crown and Bridges, Cerec Restorations and Implant Dentistry.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Kim enjoys outdoors with his wife and two border collies, and DIY projects

Dr Kristy Plum

Associate Dentist

Dr Kristy Plum graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Her passion for dentistry is evident through her ongoing studies, where she graduated as a Dental Technician from Griffith University in 2009, and an Oral Health Therapist from The University of Queensland in 2012.

Kristy has gained many dental experiences, treating at clinics in Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Mareeba and alongside a Maxillofacial surgeon in Cairns.

Dr. Kristy Plum brings a relaxed, and comforting style to dentistry, ensuring the patient is well informed, and able to enjoy their experience. She has expressed great interest in many areas of dentistry, with a particular goal of changing peoples’ perception of visiting the Dentist.

Dr Kristy is currently learning sign language as another way of being able to communicate with patients and the general public on the importance of oral health.

Before joining the team at Gentle Dental, Kristy established her own personal training business, and with her husband they built a health food company that focuses on the importance of gut health and mental health. She is eager to educate people on just how important it is to look after our body from the inside out, and the effects that poor oral health can have on our overall well-being.

When she is not treating patients, Kristy enjoys CrossFit, yoga, drinking great coffee, travelling the world with her husband and reading books by the ocean. Her calming presence and trusting nature radiates from the moment you meet her.

Dr Joe Kenway

Associate Dentist

Dr. Joseph Kenway graduated from James Cook University in Cairns with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Throughout his studies, he also worked as a Dental Assistant to gain further knowledge in clinical dentistry and how a private practice runs. His university placements allowed him in see patients in his hometown of Townsville, as well as Cairns and Proserpine. Dr Joseph has very much enjoyed his move to the Sunshine Coast as he has holidayed in Mooloolaba since he was a baby. Dr. Kenway is very family oriented and enjoys the social aspect of getting to know patients of all ages and walks of life. He enjoys making his patients feel comfortable at the dentist and discussing preventative strategies so they can improve their own oral health. His special interests within dentistry include cosmetic and restorative dentistry and wisdom teeth extractions. Outside of work, Joseph loves to surf and will be spending most of his free time at the beautiful beaches in Noosa and Sunshine Coast. He also loves to maintain an active lifestyle with running, swimming, cycling and surf lifesaving.

Dr Christine Farrelly

Principal Dentist

Dr Christine Farrelly is our Senior Associate Dentist. Christine grew up on the Sunshine Coast, graduating from Siena Catholic College. She completed a degree in Biomedical Science at UQ before graduating from the Griffith Dental School with Honours in 2013. Before joining the team at Gentle Dental she worked for the Royal Flying Doctors Service. As part of the RFDS mobile dental unit she helped provide comprehensive dental care to rural and remote townships.

Christine’s passion to learn more about orthodontics and complex restorative treatment drew her back to the Sunshine Coast.

Dr Christine knows that not everyone loves coming to the Dentist as much as she does! She will take the time to explain your treatment options in a friendly and relaxed manner. Her gentle and informative approach has even the most anxious patients leaving with a smile.
